Tesla Optimus action figures and merch: what Tesla actually sells

Tesla Optimus action figures and merch: what Tesla actually sells
The short version

The only Optimus you can own is 7.16 inches tall and weighs 48 grams. The Tesla Bot Action Figure launched at $40 on November 15, 2024 and read $45 on the most recent capture of Tesla's page I can load (March 13, 2026), while the robot itself still has no price and no order page.

Tesla will sell you an Optimus today. It is 7.16 inches tall, weighs 48 grams, and costs $45.

The Tesla Optimus action figure, sold under Tesla's own name as the Tesla Bot Action Figure, is the only Optimus-shaped object Tesla has ever priced and shipped to a member of the public. The machine it depicts has no MSRP, no order channel and no verified consumer delivery; the Optimus tracker row has read "not orderable" at every check, the last one on August 4, 2026.

So I counted the merch instead. I pulled every shop.tesla.com product URL in the Internet Archive's index with "optimus" or "bot" in the slug and read each page. That gets me 18 distinct Optimus-branded products since November 2024. Three are the action figure in different outfits. Fifteen are clothes.

What $45 buys

Tesla's own page describes "a 1:10-scale collectable and playable figurine precision engineered with over 40 individual parts and 20 points of articulation." Listed dimensions: 2.16 inches wide by 7.16 inches high (5.5 cm by 18.2 cm). Listed weight: 1.7 oz (48 g). In the box: one figurine, one charging stand, one CyberHammer. In the same spec block, one line down: "Choking hazard. Contains small parts. Not suitable for children under 14 years old."

A buyer opens one in November 2024, the month it first went on sale, and works through the box: the charging stand, the CyberHammer and the articulation the spec block above claims. Tesla blocks automated reads of its shop, so an owner's camera is the closest available check of the product against the page.

It went on sale Friday, November 15, 2024 at $40 and sold out inside 24 hours. Tesla North reported the same week that no restock had been announced and that buyers could only join a notification list.

Then it came back, and it got more expensive. Read off Tesla's own page in the Internet Archive:

Capture date Price
Nov 15, 2024 (launch day) $40
Mar 26, 2025 $40
Aug 15, 2025 $45
Mar 13, 2026 $45, listed in stock

A 12.5% increase, landing somewhere between late March and mid-August 2025. The archive holds no capture in between, so I cannot date it closer.

One process note, because it caps how much weight these numbers carry. Tesla returns 403 to automated requests on shop.tesla.com, so every price here comes from an archived copy of Tesla's page rather than a live load, and each carries its capture date. Accurate as of that date, and nothing later.

The whole Optimus catalog

Prices are US list, read off Tesla's own product pages as archived in December 2024 (the two 2024 garments), December 2025 (the three December items) and between March 13 and May 20, 2026 (everything else). The one exception is flagged in the table.

That is a floor, not a census. Anything Tesla listed briefly and the archive never crawled is missing from it, and regional stores carry items the US store does not.

One of everything on that list costs $795. Musk's stated price target for the actual robot, restated at the October 2024 "We, Robot" event, is $20,000 to $30,000. The entire wardrobe is about 4% of the cheapest number anyone at Tesla has said out loud.

What happened to the $1,300 flips

For about a week in November 2024, the figure was a scarcity object. USA Today reported resale listings as high as $1,300 against the $40 list price.

Tesla's answer was to stop making it scarce. The figure came back, went up five dollars, and grew seasonal variants: a Holiday Edition in December 2025 and a Year of the Horse edition for the 2026 Lunar New Year. Both outlasted their occasions by months. Tesla's UK page for the Year of the Horse figure still read in stock on April 12, 2026, the Australian one on May 15, and the Holiday Edition was still listed in Australia on April 23, four months after Christmas.

A limited edition you can still buy in April is a colorway. Better for buyers than the alternative, and it means the flip window closed a long time ago.

The shirt that admits the robot falls over

My favorite item in the catalog is the Electric Slide pair, a $45 tee and an $85 hoodie, both carrying an anime-style print of Optimus learning to walk down a slope. Tesla's own product copy opens: "To walk like a human, you must first learn to stumble like a human."

That is Tesla's marketing department selling the hardest unsolved problem in the field as a design motif. Bipedal balance on unscripted terrain is what still puts humanoids on the floor at live events, as the falling incident log on this site documents event by event. Wearing the joke is a fair response to it.

The $40 Coffee Break Tee is the other one worth reading closely: Optimus drinking espresso at the Tesla Diner, the Hollywood location where Optimus units handed out popcorn at the July 2025 opening. Those units were widely filmed and widely assumed to be at least partly tele-operated. The shirt is a picture of the robot doing hospitality, which is the job Optimus has actually held in public.

About that "1:10 scale"

Tesla lists the figure at 18.2 cm and calls it 1:10. Ten times 18.2 cm is 182 cm. Optimus is planned at 5 ft 8 in (173 cm) and 125 lb (57 kg) by Tesla's own published specification, which would put a true 1:10 model at 17.3 cm.

Nine millimetres on a toy box defrauds nobody. I raise it because 18.2 cm is the only Optimus dimension that has physically shipped to a customer, and it does not match the robot it is scaled from.

Side by side comparison of the Tesla Bot Action Figure and the Optimus robot: 18.2 cm and 48 g against a planned 173 cm and 57 kg, showing that the box's 1:10 label implies a 182 cm robot while a true 1:10 model of the specified 173 cm robot would stand 17.3 cm, and that the figure costs $45 and ships while the robot has no published price, no order page and 0 units delivered to the public

What Tesla will not sell you

There is no Tesla Optimus robot for sale and no order page. At Davos on January 22, 2026, Musk said Optimus would be sold to the public by the end of 2027, conditional on reliability, safety and functionality; six days later he acknowledged no Optimus was yet doing useful work at Tesla. The full ledger of those promises and their slippage sits in the dated Musk claims archive.

Which makes the buying rule short. shop.tesla.com is the only place Tesla sells anything with Optimus on it, and none of it is a robot. Any site collecting a deposit against a future Optimus is not Tesla, because Tesla does not operate a page that collects deposits against a future Optimus.

Second rule, less serious but it still costs people money: search "optimus action figure" without the word Tesla and you will mostly get Transformers. Optimus Prime owned that phrase for decades before Tesla borrowed the name, and a lot of the "Optimus figure" listings on marketplaces are red-and-blue trucks.

If you want a robot-shaped thing that moves

The action figure has 20 joints and zero motors. Nothing in it powers anything. If the appeal is a small machine that actually walks, that market starts around $17.99 and tops out near $299 for Robosen's 17-servo mini humanoid, and it is a completely different purchase from a display piece.

If the appeal is the machine from the keynote videos, the entry price is five figures and the shopping guide is what a humanoid robot actually costs.

Tesla has now sold at least one full production run of the seven-inch Optimus, plus two seasonal reissues. It has sold zero of the five-foot-eight one, and by its own most recent timeline it will still be zero for another year.
